ZapHog (“ZapHog,” “we,” “us”) is published by Ampium LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company. This policy explains what we collect when you use zaphog.com, what we do with it, and the choices you have. It applies to the site and to the emails we send. By using ZapHog you agree to it.
1. What we collect
What you type. The questions you ask, the options you tap under an answer, and anything you type into an answer’s fields. Questions are stored so ZapHog can answer them again and see what people ask; they are not tied to your name unless you are signed in and the feature says so. Do not enter passwords, account numbers, government ID numbers, health records, or anything about another private person.
What happened. When you answer “Did you do it?” or “Would you choose it again?” or leave a one-sentence note, we store those answers with the question and the options you tapped. To keep your answers together across visits, we set a random identifier cookie the first time you answer. It contains no personal information and is never set by simply browsing.
Email address. Only if you give it to us: when you ask ZapHog to follow up later, when you sign in by email link, or when you write to us.
Sign-in information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google under your Google settings. We do not receive your Google password. Signing in creates an account keyed to your email and sets a session cookie.
Contributions. Anything you choose to publish through your account, such as an experience, with the display name you choose.
Technical information. Your IP address, browser type, and coarse location (city and region, derived by our hosting provider from your IP). We use IP addresses to limit abuse and coarse location only to shape answers to questions where place matters, such as local prices. Neither is stored with your questions.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. For site analytics we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and measures page performance without cookies, without fingerprinting, and without tracking you across sites. We see aggregate numbers, never a profile of you.
2. How we use it
- To answer your questions, including sending your question to the AI models and web search services that write and inform the answer (Section 3).
- To sharpen answers over time. What people did after an answer, and whether they would choose it again, is combined into aggregate, de-identified statistics that may be shown in future answers (for example, “most people who bought this would buy it again”). Aggregates never identify you.
- To follow up when you ask us to. If you tap “Ask me later,” we send one email when enough time has passed, asking what happened. You can stop these at any time from the email.
- To sign you in and run your account.
- To publish contributions you choose to publish, under the name you choose.
- To prevent abuse, fix errors, and keep the site working.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do not use it for targeted advertising.
3. Who we share it with
- AI and search providers. Your question (and the options you tap) is sent to third-party AI models through OpenRouter, and, for time-sensitive questions, to a web search service, in order to produce the answer. We configure these providers not to retain or train on your questions where the provider offers that setting. Your name, email, and identifier cookie are never sent with a question.
- Service providers. Companies that host the site, store data, deliver email, and screen for bots (including Cloudflare and Google for sign-in), bound to use information only to provide their service to us.
- Legal and safety. If required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ZapHog, our users, or the public.
- A successor. If Ampium LLC or ZapHog is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of it. This policy continues to apply.
4. Cookies
We use only cookies we set ourselves:

You can delete cookies in your browser at any time. ZapHog works without them; you will simply be signed out and your outcome answers will no longer be linked together.
5. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. Sign in and choose delete on your account page. Your email, name, sessions, and the link between you and your outcome answers are removed. You choose whether contributions you published stay up anonymously or come down.
- Download your data. Available from your account page.
- Stop follow-up emails. Use the link in any follow-up email, or write to us.
- Ask us anything about your data. Email privacy@zaphog.com. Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to not be treated differently for exercising those rights. We will respond within the time your state’s law requires, and we may need to verify your identity first. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out where the law requires one, though we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising in the first place.
ZapHog is operated from the United States and intended for people in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States.
6. Retention and security
We keep questions and outcome answers for as long as they are useful for improving answers, then delete or de-identify them. Email addresses for follow-ups are kept until the follow-up is sent and you have had a chance to respond, then removed unless you have an account. Account information is kept until you delete your account. Abuse-prevention records (IP-based rate limits) expire within hours.
We use reasonable safeguards: encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure.
7. Children
ZapHog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email privacy@zaphog.com and we will delete it.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the current version. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will say so on this page and, where we have your email, by email. Continued use after a change is acceptance.
